Eagles roll past Dallas Christian

FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 28, 2009) – The Oklahoma Christian men’s basketball team added another victory to their season with a 64-47 win over Dallas Christian College on Saturday afternoon.

Now two games without Jason Taylor, a 6-8 senior crucial impact player for the Eagles, the Eagles have remained sturdy and continued to win despite the absence of Taylor’s scoring and rebounding abilities.

The Eagles took little time getting points up on the board in the first half and shot impressively from the field with 54.5 percent accuracy. Michael Hill played strong under the basket putting up nine points during the half and bringing down five rebounds.

Chad Endres and Devan White added another eight points apiece to the first half’s total with White making four steals to add to the Eagles’ 40-17 run before the half.

During the second half of play, OC put up 24 points to Dallas Christian’s 30. All of OC’s players saw game time during the second period.

David Jackson put up 12 points on the night scoring 5-5 on free throws in addition to five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Jeff Crocker assisted Jackson from the perimeter added another seven points to the Eagles’ total along with three assists.

Andre Vaughn helped control the paint grabbing five rebounds, putting up seven points, and making two steals. Endres and White ended the night with 13 and nine points, respectively with Endres making three steals.

Now with a 7-0 undefeated record, the Eagles head into more conference play on Thursday night as they face Wayland Baptist University (Texas) in a double header with the women’s team. The women’s game will tip-off at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s at 8 p.m.

Oklahoma Christian inducted its five newest Athletic Hall of Fame members on Friday, including a first for the university – a current student.

Men’s basketball star Charlie Smith, tennis coach Kris Miller, track standout Kathy (Nelson) Belcoff, softball ace Leah Carrell and current track and cross country All-American Silas Kisorio participated in the formal induction ceremony, held in OC’s Gaylord University Center.

Don Meyer, the NCAA leader in career men’s basketball coaching wins with 923, was the keynote speaker. The former coach at OC’s sister institution, Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., praised the five inductees for developing their athletic gifts and encouraged the 250 people in attendance to do the same with the gifts they’d been blessed with by God.
