FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 27, 2009) – The Oklahoma Christian men’s basketball team beat the University of Saint Thomas-Houston with a 67-60 victory and added a sixth win to their undefeated record.
The Eagles had a bit of a slow start with 34.6 percent shooting from the field in the first half and only netting 24 points. Despite being down four points at the half, the Eagles rallied to put up more accurate shooting and regain their deficit to put themselves into the lead after shooting 51.9 percent in the second half.
David Jackson had a powerful and important role in the victory over Saint Thomas after he nailed four three-point baskets to add to his total 20 points on the evening. Jackson also made two rebounds, five assists, a block, and two steals to bolster the Eagles’ performance.
Devan White and Andre Vaughn each put up double-digit points as well to contribute to the Eagles’ victory. White made 15 points from the field, grabbed 10 boards for a double-double on the night all in addition to his four assists and two blocks. Vaughn, another offensive catalyst, grabbed an additional five rebounds and made two steals to help the Eagles maintain their possession of the ball.
The Eagles’ Jeff Crocker added another nine points to OC’s total along with make two steals during the game. Jon Jonsson and Michael Hill had five rebounds and two points apiece with teammate Chad Endres pulling down four rebounds and adding another three points.
After being down 28-24 at the half, the Eagles came back with a 43-32 run in the second half to overtake Saint Thomas and earn their sixth win of the year. The Eagles remained undefeated for the season now 6-0.
The Eagles play the second game of the Texas Wesleyan Classic against Dallas Christian (Texas) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Oklahoma Christian inducted its five newest Athletic Hall of Fame members on Friday, including a first for the university – a current student.
Men’s basketball star Charlie Smith, tennis coach Kris Miller, track standout Kathy (Nelson) Belcoff, softball ace Leah Carrell and current track and cross country All-American Silas Kisorio participated in the formal induction ceremony, held in OC’s Gaylord University Center.
Don Meyer, the NCAA leader in career men’s basketball coaching wins with 923, was the keynote speaker. The former coach at OC’s sister institution, Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., praised the five inductees for developing their athletic gifts and encouraged the 250 people in attendance to do the same with the gifts they’d been blessed with by God.
