Game Highlights

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (Sept. 11, 2009) – The men’s soccer team came away from Friday’s game with a 1-1 tie against Lindenwood (Mo.). Still undefeated, the men are now 2-0-1 on the season.

To start the game off in the right direction for Oklahoma Christian, Matt Lambert scored his second goal of the season, off an assist by Neil Hilton, very early in the half. The remainder of the half remained scoreless despite the hard-pressed efforts by both teams.

Early in the second half, Lindenwood’s Alexander Rivera answered with a goal to tie the game at 1-1. Through numerous shots and attempts, neither team was able to score before regulation time ended, taking the game into overtime.

Through two quick overtime halves, the ball made its way back and forth across the field without finding either team’s net. With two strong defenses present, the score resulted in a tie for the Eagles leaving them at 2-0-1 for the season.

The Eagles return to the OC soccer field tomorrow at 2 pm (previously scheduled for 8 pm) to host Hillsdale Baptist (Okla.) following the women’s game at 12 pm who will host Dallas Baptist (Texas).

Oklahoma Christian inducted its five newest Athletic Hall of Fame members on Friday, including a first for the university – a current student.

Men’s basketball star Charlie Smith, tennis coach Kris Miller, track standout Kathy (Nelson) Belcoff, softball ace Leah Carrell and current track and cross country All-American Silas Kisorio participated in the formal induction ceremony, held in OC’s Gaylord University Center.

Don Meyer, the NCAA leader in career men’s basketball coaching wins with 923, was the keynote speaker. The former coach at OC’s sister institution, Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn., praised the five inductees for developing their athletic gifts and encouraged the 250 people in attendance to do the same with the gifts they’d been blessed with by God.
