David Lynn has enjoyed outstanding success since assuming leadership of the OC men’s golf program in 1999. As head coach, Lynn has led the Eagles to eight consecutive top-four finishes at the NAIA national tournament.
OC placed second in 2001 and 2005, third in 2000, 2002, 2006 and 2007, and fourth in 2003 and 2004. His teams have won 30 tournament titles overall entering 2007-08.
In 2003, the Eagles attained their first-ever No. 1 ranking in the NAIA regular season poll. OC again held the top spot during the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons.
Lynn has coached 12 athletes to NAIA All-American status a total of 25 times. Six of his golfers have attained NAIA Scholar-Athlete status a total of 13 times.
Lynn was selected as the 2003, 2005 and 2006 Coach of the Year in the Sooner Athletic Conference and in NAIA Region VI.
He now serves as past-president of the NAIA Men’s Golf Coaches Association after a two-year term as president. He also has been the NAIA representative on the Golf Coaches Association of America National Advisory Board since 2003.
He recently was selected to coach the U.S. golf team at the 2008 World University Games.
A native of Everett, Washington, the 34-year-old Lynn is a 1995 graduate of Oklahoma Christian, where was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a four-year letterman in track and field.
He was honored as OC’s outstanding physical education major for 1995-96. He earned his master’s degree at the University of Central Oklahoma.
Lynn is married to Michelle (Hays). The couple has a daughter, Mackenzie, and a son, Danny.
