Lisa Johnson

Head Coach

Lisa Johnson serves as the head coach for the men’s and women’s intercollegiate tennis programs. She joined the OC coaching staff on August 1, 2004.


Her teams have combined to win three of the four Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional championships in each of the past two years.


In spring competition, she has led the OC women’s team to the NAIA national tournament each of the last two years, including a 16-5 record and a berth in the NAIA Sweet 16 last season. Her 2006 men’s team won the Sooner Athletic Conference championship.


In addition, both the men’s and women’s teams earned NAIA Scholar Team honors in both 2006 and 2007, ranking in the NAIA’s top 10 in cumulative team GPA.


An OC alumnus, Johnson served as coach of the men’s and women’s varsity tennis teams at Chickasha High School and as physical education instructor at Southwest Elementary in Chickasha before returning to her alma mater.


Johnson is a past president of the Oklahoma Tennis Coaches Association and currently serves as the secretary-treasurer of the state organization. The Oklahoma Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance selected her as the Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2002.


She was named Oklahoma Region Coach of the Year in 2006.


A 1983 Oklahoma Christian graduate, Johnson earned a master’s degree in secondary education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1990.


She and her husband, Brian, are the parents of two daughters, Piper and Katie.
